Bluejacket boys split with Panthers, Lightning

Posting the first shutout of the season, Cambridge-Isanti boys hockey defeated host Northern Lakes of Pequot Lakes 3-0 Jan. 4.

After a scoreless first period, Jacob Sylvester got the Bluejackets on the board late in the second period. Jack Goodmanson made it 2-0 just 15 seconds later to send the Jackets to the locker room with good momentum.

Sylvester scored his second goal for insurance 4:19 into the third period. Elliott Simon assisted on all three goals, and Mike Nolt finished with two assists. Jacob Sibell forged the shutout with 18 saves in the C-I nets.

• In their other action last week, the Bluejackets were tripped by host Spring Lake Park 5-1 Jan. 2. Collin Anderson’s goal had the game tied at 1-1 in the first period.

The Panthers added a solo goal in the second period, then they netted three shots to keep the Jackets at bay in the third. Sibell finished with 43 saves for C-I.

• The Bluejackets’ Jan. 7 Mississippi 8 game at Chisago Lakes was postponed. They next travel to East Bethel on Saturday to take on the rival Saints.
