BASKETBALL UPDATES: Devin Malik scored four of his 10 points in overtime, and Matt Swanson scored three points in the extra minutes when Cambridge boys basketball rallied on visiting North Branch 79-74 Dec. 19. The win improved the Bluejackets’ overall record to 6-1.

The Vikings led 37-28 at the half before the Jackets surged ahead on Nate Cox’s three-pointer with 2:35 left in regulation. North Branch knocked down three free throws with two seconds remaining to send the game into OT. Kyle McDonald hit three ‘3s’ and led C-I with 23 points. Cox scored 14, and Swanson finished with 9 points and 12 rebounds. Both Malik and McDonald passed for 5 assists in the win.

Two wins for C-I Girls

Cambridge-Isanti opened a 37-14 lead at the break and cruised to a 61-42 non-conference road win over Spring Lake Park Dec. 19. Lily Porta scored 16 and Justine Larson 15 to pace the Bluejackets, with Maria Vavra scoring 10 and Shelby Swanson 8 against the Panthers. Larson and Swanson led on the boards with 7 and 6 rebounds.

On Dec. 20, the Bluejackets defeated visiting Minneapolis South as Porta scored 16, Larson 10 and Vavra 9.

Warrior hoops earn victories

Jake Bergman scored 34 points to lead the Cambridge Christian boys basketball team to a 67-31 win over visiting Christian Life Dec. 17. Anders Boyum (12), Grant Taylor (11) and Justin Roble (8) aiding in scoring against the Lions.

The Warriors (6-2) also defeated Victory 74-39 at home Dec. 16 when Bergman scored 22, both Taylor and Boyum netted 18 points and Roble scored 9.

• The Warrior girls improved to 7-1 by pulling away from Fourth Baptist in the second half for a 58-42 victory Dec. 20. Kellie Pedersen scored 18, Kristin Bergman 16 and Jerusalem Solomon 8 in the win.

On Dec. 17, the CCS girls downed Christian Life 60-33 with Bergman (20), Solomon (17) and Pedersen (17) leading the scoring.

Bomber Boys  keep rolling

Braham defeated host Grantsburg, Wis. 75-44 in the annual non-conference matchup Dec. 17 as Chris Olson scored 17, with both Zach Dahlman and John Larson adding 13 points. On Dec. 19, the Bombers beat Ogilvie 126-32 as Connor Tschumper (28) and Olson (21) were top scorers versus the Lions.

Braham Girls  now 7-0

Braham girls hoops remained undefeated after two more wins last week: 54-29 at Grantsburg, Wis. and 80-23 against visiting Ogilvie.

Change for Bombers at Tech Holiday Tourney

Due to one team dropping out of the St. Cloud Tech Holiday tourney, the Braham girls will play just one game this weekend against Fairmont on Dec. 27 (4 p.m.). Braham will later pick up a game by adding a Feb. 13 date vs. SC Tech (7:30 p.m.).
