Bluejacket boys hockey defeats PC-RC

Cambridge-Isanti boys hockey picked up its first win on the season by defeating host Pine City-Rush City 3-2 Dec. 17. Elliott Simon broke up the scoreless game with a goal in the second period, and Levi Miller netted a shot less than two minutes later for the Bluejackets. The lead grew to 3-0 when Jaren Konen scored with eight seconds left in that period.

The Dragons made it interesting with two early goals in the third, but the Bluejackets held for the victory. Nate Muehlberg began in the C-I nets, making 13 saves, and Jacob Sibell closed with nine saves over the final 21 minutes.

• On Dec. 19, visiting Monticello-Annandale notched a 6-1 win at Isanti in a Mississippi 8 matchup. Simon scored the Bluejackets’ lone goal to make it 3-1 in the third period.
