Jacket girls hockey tipped in OT by Princeton

MILITARY APPRECIATION NIGHT COMING DEC. 17:   In their continuing close rivalry, Princeton-Big Lake-Becker slipped past Cambridge-Isanti-Mora-Pine City girls hockey 3-2 in overtime in Dec. 6 Mississippi 8 action. The Tigers’ Bridget Walter netted her second goal of the game 7:44 into OT for the win.

Kristin Eustice had the Bluejackets up 2-1 in the second period with two goals, the first coming short-handed. Abbey Haug made 34 saves in the CIMPC nets.

In their other action last week, the Bluejacket girls battled hard against Rogers before falling 3-1 Dec. 3. The Royals scored on a 5-3 advantage to make it 2-0 in the first period and added an empty-netter at the end. Jordan Ramey’s goal off assists from Kyle Guimont and Eustice came early in the second period.

“Rogers got a penalty with two minutes left in the game, and we pulled our goalie for a two-skater advantage. We hit a couple pipes in an exciting finish– we just came up short,” replayed CIMPC Coach Bob Nelson.

• The Dec. 17 home game with St. Francis will be Military Appreciation Night at the Isanti Arena. Veterans and service members get in free. The girls will warm up with camo jerseys, and a youth hockey player will sing the National Anthem.

• On Dec. 10, Spring Lake Park defeated the Bluejacket girls 10-3 in non-conference action.
