Cambridge-Isanti boys swim & dive opened a nice lead after seven events and kept working for a 98-85 win over visiting Duluth East in the team’s season-opener Dec. 10.
Parker Brown (238.6), Cody Hemmelgarn (222.6) and Tristen Zimprich (136.0) swept the top three Diving spots to create early distance from the Greyhounds. Posting 1st places in swimming events were Alex Heinen in the 200 (2:06.2) & 500 (5:42.8) Freestyles, Josh Minnihan in the 200 IM (2;22.0), and John Solberg in the 100 Free (54.1) and 100 Backstroke (1:02.3).
Knights, Lumberjacks skate past C-I Boys Hockey
Elliott Simon, Dustin Davis and Collin Anderson scored goals for a 3-1 lead in the first period, but St. Michael-Albertville netted five second-period goals and went on to defeat Cambridge-Isanti boys hockey 8-4 in a Dec. 7 Mississippi 8 game. Anderson added the Bluejackets’ final goal in the third period, and Jacob Sibell finished with 32 saves in the C-I nets.
On Dec. 10, the Bluejackets hosted Section 7AA partner Cloquet-E-C, and the Lumberjacks went home with an 8-2 victory. Dan Risch and Mavrick Nelson netted second period goals to tie the game at 2-2, then Cloquet racked up six goals in the third.
In their other action last week, the Bluejackets fell to Achiever Academy 4-2 on Dec. 5. Anderson and Simon scored the C-I goals. Sibell totaled 30 saves against the Aces.
