The Minnesota Department of Education approved the development and opening of the Arts & Science Academy, a K-8 arts and science focused free public charter school, to open in the fall of 2014.
School developers had originally hoped to open the school this August, however delays at various stages of development forced the timeline to be pushed back a year.
The school will be located between Cambridge and Isanti, just off Highway 65. The new public school will begin operating as a K-6 for the 2014-15 school year. Grades 7 and 8 will be added for the 2015-16 and 2016-17 school years respectively.
Public information sessions are now being held at the Minnco Conference Center located at 236 Second Ave. SW Cambridge.
There are currently five information sessions scheduled:
• Monday, Nov. 25 at 7 p.m.
• Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m.
• Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m.
• Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m.
• Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m.
More sessions will be added for the months of March through June and held at the school site after it becomes developed and operational.
For more information email: firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.artscienceacademy.org. Parents and other community members and organizations interested in supporting the school are welcomed and needed.
The Arts & Science Academy looks forward to serving the families in the Cambridge-Isanti region by providing innovative educational choice.
