Braham Volleyball falls to Nevis in section semis

Braham’s exciting volleyball season came to a close in the Oct. 31 semifinals when Nevis downed the Bombers 25-15, 25-14, 25-14. The Tigers were the team to end the Bombers’ season last year in the 5A semis.

Bomber Coach Britne Engelking: “The girls played “not to lose” rather then “playing to win.” When the girls do this, they start to question everything they are doing rather then just playing which resulted in us making more errors then we have in most matches this season.  Attacks were sailing out of bounds or into Nevis’s blocks, serves were out, passes were off.  Unfortunately, we did not play our best volleyball.

“I do commend the girls for a great season. We are a young team, and I am excited to watch these girls grow and get more comfortable playing together each year.”

In the Nov. 2 championship, Nevis defended its 5A title by defeating Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa 25-19, 25-18, 25-10. The Tigers (22-9) were seeded 5th for the Class A State tourney, and they will open against No. 4 Win-E-Mac (30-3) in the Nov. 7 quarterfinals at the Xcel Center.
