Bombers advance to 7A Football championship

Elijah Overton rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns, and John Larson threw for 140 yards and a score when Braham defeated visiting Blackduck 34-6 in the Section 7A semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 26. Zach Dahlman led the Bomber receivers with 102 yards on 7 catches against the Drakes.

Top-seed Braham (10-0) will next take on No. 2 seed Barnum (9-1) in a rematch of two Bomber squads at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 on the Duluth Public Stadium turf. The winner of that championship game advances to the Nov. 8 Class A quarterfinals at St. Cloud State.

Section 7AAAAA: Brainerd 35, Cambridge-Isanti 14

Brainerd broke a 14-14 tie with 21 unanswered points in the second half to defeat Cambridge-Isanti 35-14 in the Section 7AAAAA semifinals on Saturday, Oct. 26. John Solberg (66 yards) and Kyle Chromy (59 yards) led the Bluejacket rushing attack against the top-seed Warriors. C-I closed the 2013 season with a 6-4 record.

Brainerd will host No. 2 seed Chisago Lakes in the Nov. 1 section finals. The Wildcats got past Bemidji 35-28 in the other semis on Saturday.

Warriors defend CAL Soccer title

Cambridge Christian swept its three Christian Athletic League tourney games to repeat as soccer champions. The host Warriors closed the tournament with a 3-0 win over Valley Christian to clinch the title.
