Warriors hosting CAL soccer, volleyball tourneys Oct. 25-26

SPORTS ROUND-UP:  Cambridge Christian School will host this year’s Christian Athletic League tournaments to wrap up the autumn season.

The CAL soccer pool tourney gets underway at 10 a.m. Oct. 25 with the Warriors taking on Faith Foreston. Games continue on Friday up through the 4 p.m. match of CCS vs. Hope Christian. The Warriors’ final match will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday vs. Valley Christian.

The CAL volleyball tournament will be held  at the Cambridge Armed Forces Reserve and Community Center, also split into pool play. The Warriors open at 10 a.m. on Friday against Hope Christian, with their next pool match at 5 p.m. that night against Immanuel Lutheran.

Saturday’s volleyball begins with the 10 a.m. consolation match, followed by the 11:45 a.m. third-place match and the 1:30 p.m. championship.

C-I Swim defeats Becker

In their final dual meet of the regular season, Cambridge-Isanti girls swim & dive defeated visiting Becker 104-74 Oct. 15.

Kenzie Boysen (2:15.6), Tristen Dooley (2:20.7) and Katherine Duram (2:21.2) swept the top three spots in the 200 Freestyle. Those three also won the top three spots in the 500 Free. Maria Leibel (202.5), Taylor Weeks (186.4) and Michaela Pasch (150.8) swept the top placings in diving.

Maria Vavra swam to first place in both the 50 Free (27.8) and 100 Free (1:00.7). Katie Beauto also posted the meet’s best times in both the 100 Butterfly (1:06.5) and 100 Backstroke (1:07.6). Laura Meier had the top time in the 100 Breaststroke (1:20.6) against the Bulldogs.

Bluejacket members will next compete in the Mississippi 8 JV finals this week. Diving will be held Oct. 24 at Princeton, and JV swim will be held Oct. 25 at St. Michael.
