Marian Kafer (Jarrett-Morton), 90, of Isanti, died October 12, 2013 at Solbakken Assisted Living.
Marian Mabel Kafer was born Aug. 4, 1923 in Minneapolis to William (Bill) and Florence (Morton) Jarrett. She was raised in Detroit Lakes and graduated from Detroit Lakes High School.
On July 21, 1944 she married Virgil Kafer. After a short time they moved to the Minneapolis area. They owned and operated Kafer Krafts for 25 years. In 1978 they moved to Isanti. In 2010 Marian moved to Solbakken Assisted Living in rural Isanti. Marian loved ballroom dancing, sewing, crocheting, gardening, being outdoors and doing the yard work and caring for her flowers.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil; son, Russell; sister, Joyce Gray; brother, Kenneth Jarrett. Marian is survived by 3 sons, Dan (Cindy) of Redding, Calif., Gary (Crissy) of Cohutta, Ga., Curtis (Jenni) of Isanti; daughter, Melanie (Daniel) Anderson of Cambridge; grandchildren, Daneal, Cory, Stacy, Natalie, Justin, Travis, Brent, Carlie, Kenny, Anna, Kalem; great-grandchildren, Emily, Madison, Marina, Megan, Michael, Logan, Peyton, Kaidyn, Rhyker, Alexis, Tanner, Brennan, Mikayla, Savannah plus 1 on the way.
The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 17, 2013, with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. at the Strike Funeral Home Isanti Chapel. The pallbearers will be Kalem Anderson, Brent, Cory, Justin and Travis Kafer and Steve Lind. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Detroit Lakes.
