“Let’s Go Fishing” season a success

Dear Editor:

The North Branch Chapter of “Let’s Go Fishing,” a volunteer organization that takes senior citizens, veterans and adults with disabilities out on fishing trips, just wrapped up their season. More than 50 trips were taken serving more than 300 people. These fishing trips are provided at no cost to the folks we take out on the water.

We want to thank the many individuals and businesses who help by donating their time and money for events like our Waffle Breakfast and Silent Auction in May. We need to highlight some people who really help us out. Flickabirds on East Rush Lake owner Buzzy Mel, who let’s us dock the pontoon boat at their docks, this really helps us out by not having to trailer the pontoon after each day it’s used. Dave Anderson at Fish Lake Bait provides us with bait for all the trips, it’s a convenient local in Harris and helps us immensely. Tom Valvoda of Crystal Ice provides ice for each trip. Jack Juve at the American Inn in North Branch provides us with meeting space year round. County Market Manager Tony Peterson gives us discounts on cookies for treats. Holiday Stations provides us with gas cards for the pontoon. These folks helped us to serve our seniors.

Over the winter we will be recruiting captains and crews for next year. Our trips are during the week when the lake is quieter. If you are available during week days and would like to join our organization, contact Jenny Johnson at 651-674-7268. Thank You.
