Warrior Soccer blanks Hawks
Cambridge Christian soccer blanked Christian Life 5-0 Sept. 26, raising its season record to 5-3 while featuring five different goal scorers in the match.
The Warriors and Hawks played evenly the opening 14:30 when Anders Boyum cracked the scoreboard with a beautifully-placed 18-yard strike off a Jack Swenson through ball. Battling the gusty wind, CCS made it 2-0 when Swenson’s header off an Araya Doble cross, then the Warriors took a 3-0 lead into the break when Justin Roble set up a Syfah Doble goal.
Twenty-five minutes into the second half, Diether Modina banged home a quick pass from Swenson. Roble added the final goal off a give-and-go with Boyum.
“Our team is beginning to hit its stride, and we are excited for the rest of the season,” noted Warrior Coach Peter Newton. His team will compete in the 10-team ACSI Midwest tournament next week in Sycamore, Ill.
