ECE seeks Touchstone Energy Community Award nominations

Every year East Central Energy (ECE) recognizes exemplary community service by presenting the Touchstone Energy® Community Award to a local organization.

Nominations for the award are now being accepted. Any organization in ECE’s service territory is eligible to compete for the award.

Civic organizations and non-profits are eligible to submit a nomination if they have enhanced the quality of life in their community through a special project or the ongoing work they do.

Community members may also submit a nomination on behalf of a deserving organization.

Nomination forms are available at or call 1-800-254-7944, ext. 8046. Completed forms must be received at ECE’s Braham headquarters by Friday, Oct. 25.

ECE will recognize the local winner with a plaque and a $500 cash prize. The organization will then compete with winners from other electric cooperatives for statewide recognition and $1,000.

Oulu Community Theater in Oulu, Wis. received ECE’s Touchstone Energy Community Award in 2012 for involving residents of all ages in their productions and donating the proceeds to programs that benefit local children.

As a Touchstone Energy Cooperative, ECE is one of more than 700 local, member-owned electric cooperatives that incorporate the values of integrity, accountability, innovation and commitment to community in the work they do.
