“This was our seventh 7-0 victory this season. Through the North Branch match, we have outscored our opponents 78-27,” noted C-I Coach Lee Orvik.

Taking their singles matches against the Vikings were Jade Lamb (6-1, 6-1), Kate Hanson (6-1, 6-0), Nikki Hallstrom (6-0, 6-0) and Karley Kirkhoff (6-0, 6-0). Lizzie Holm and Ellie Osborne teamed for a 7-5, 6-1 win at 1st Doubles. Also  collecting doubles wins were Emily Baker & Jade Lamb (6-1, 6-2) and Anna Nelson & Abby Schoeneck (6-0, 6-0).

Back on Sept. 17, Monticello stayed perfect in the M-8 with a 6-1 win over Cambridge-Isanti. Holm & Osborne got the Jackets’ lone point with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 battle at 1st Doubles. Hanson at 2nd Singles, and Backer & Lamb at 2nd Doubles also pushed their Magic foes in three-set matches.

“Monticello is a solid, deep team. The final score doesn’t indicate how close this match really was,” added Coach Orvik.

On Sept. 24, Princeton posted a 6-1 win over the host Bluejackets. The Tigers take on Chisago Lakes Sept. 26, then they travel to Monticello Oct. 1 in what could be a match for the conference title.

• Also in the busy stretch, the Bluejackets defeated Annandale 5-2 in non-conference action Sept. 23. The Cardinals were the Class A runners-up last season.
