Cambridge-Isanti School District taxpayers have a responsibility to make an informed decision about the $10 million bond referendum before heading to the polls Nov. 5.
The School District has been embarking on an informational campaign to get as much information to the public as possible. The School District’s website, www.cambridge.k12.mn.us, has information on its homepage about the referendum.
The $10 million bond referendum will address safety, security, repairs and maintenance issues across the district.
As far as tax impact on the school district portion of taxes, if the referendum is approved, voters with a residential homestead taxable market value of $100,000 will see an annual tax increase of $14; $125,000, $19; $200,000, $35; and $300,000, $56.
The district will be hosting several meetings regarding the referendum. Public informational meetings are planned at each school building from 7-8:30 p.m., with a brief building tour occurring before each meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Meetings have already been held at the Cambridge Primary School, Isanti Middle School/Minnesota Center and Cambridge Middle School.
Remaining public informational meetings include:
• Sept. 18: Isanti Primary School.
• Sept. 24: Cambridge Intermediate School.
• Sept. 26: Cambridge-Isanti High School.
• Sept. 30: Isanti Intermediate School/School For All Seasons.
Public informational meetings will also be held from 7-8:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Isanti Community Center and Oct. 2 at the Minnco Center Community Room in Cambridge. Residents are welcome to attend any meeting at any location at their convenience.
I encourage the taxpayers of the Cambridge-Isanti School District to attend these public meetings to learn more about the bond referendum and ask any questions they may have about the bond referendum. Voters have the right to vote for or against the bond referendum. I hope an informed decision will be made at the polling locations Nov. 5.
