Young woman learns about The Refuge Network

Dear Editor:

For my Girl Scout Silver Award I chose to learn more about domestic violence. I asked the people at The Refuge Network to help me. I took their training class and have spent some time volunteering at Pass It On, the thrift store where people can buy kids, women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, as well as toys and things for their home, on Main Street in Cambridge.

I learned that any type of abuse is terrible and that includes verbal as well as emotional, physical, and bullying. We all need to know it is not nice to put other people down or call them names. No one should ever think they have a right to control some one else. Thanks to all the people who have helped me earn this award.
