Wednesday, Sept. 11: A free Community Dinner will be offered from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Spirit River Community Center, 1320 Co. Rd. 5 NE, Isanti.

Youth Groups beginning at Common Ground

Sept. 11 & Sept. 15: Common Ground: A United Methodist Community, invites middle-schoolers to Middle School Youth Group beginning Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 6-7:15 p.m. All youth grades 5-8 are welcome. Senior High Youth Group begins Sunday, Sept. 15, from 10:45 a.m. to noon. All senior high students are welcome. Open House at Heavenly Sunshine Preschool

Thursday, Sept. 12: A strong preschool foundation is one of the best presents you can give your child. Special Presentation on Lands and Waters

Thursday, Sept. 12: Laura Durenberger-Grunow, volunteer manager for Great River Greening will speak on, “Securing the Legacy of Minnesota Lands and Waters.” Great River Greening has ecological expertise in natural resource and water quality management and focuses on volunteer activities that offer conservation impact, ecosystem services and community benefits. Projects include native planting design, restoration and stabilization of shore lands, planting of native trees and wildflowers and exotic species removal. This free presentation at the Isanti County Government Center in Cambridge is at 7 p.m. and sponsored by the Isanti County Master Gardeners. For more information call 763-689-8254.

Fundraiser to benefit people in Haiti

Friday, Sept. 13: Factory Outlet Sale – 80 percent off the retail price of nightshirts made entirely of cotton. The location will be the lobby of Minnco, Highway 95, one block west of Main Street in Cambridge between 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. All money collected will benefit the poor in Haiti. Friday, Sept. 13: An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at East Terrace Cooperative, 2155 Sixth Lane SE, Cambridge. Enjoy a trip to Duluth through Community Ed

Saturday, Sept. 14: Cambridge-Isanti Community Education will be hosting a trip to Duluth. The bus will leave Cambridge-Isanti High School at 8:30 a.m. and return at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $24 for the trip or $39 for the trip and tour. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Your first stop will be at Tobies in Hinckley. Then, you will spend the day at Canal Park where you can watch the lift bridge, walk the pier, browse shops and enjoy some ice cream. You can also choose to travel to the Glensheen Mansion for a tour. Call Community Education at 763-689-6189 to register.

Saturday, Sept. 14:  Matthew 25 Food Distribution Ministry will be held at Isanti Middle School, 201 Centennial Drive. Food will be distributed beginning at 9:30 a.m. Every person receives two free grocery bags of food.

Saturday, Sept. 14: Athens Township annual Picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Athens Town Hall.

Cambridge Surplus Food Distribution

Tuesday, Sept. 17: The Cambridge Surplus Food Distribution will be held at the Isanti County Fairgrounds. Registration and food distribution will be from 3:30 to 6 p.m. There will not be any preregistration. Do not arrive before 1 p.m. Food will be distributed to one person only per address. Saturday, Sept. 21: WinterGreen’s in Isanti will hold a 70s 5K Walk/Run or Disco to benefit Batten Disease Support & Research Association. The Race/Walk will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a Band Party/Beer Bust from 6 p.m. to close. Entry fee (includes free drink & bracelet) is $25/person by Sept. 14 or $30/person Sept. 15 to event day. Kids 12 & under are free.
