Wildlife Management Area dedication Sept. 7

COMMUNITY SPORTS:   A dedication and celebration ceremony will be held Saturday, Sept. 7 (11 a.m.) at a new Spencer Brook – Kelly Lake Unit Wildlife Management Area in Isanti County. The Spencer Brook WMA parking lot will be the ceremony site which is located off Co. Rd. 7 and 305th Lane NW.

This is a collaborative effort between Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, National Wild Turkey Federation, Isanti County Sportsmen’s Club, Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, Pheasants Forever, Quality Deer Management Association, and Minnesota Trappers Association, along with four very patient and conservation-minded landowners: Cliff Edblad, Loren Lindberg, Gerald Eggert & Mark Melius.

Andy Englund, a young man who loved to hunt and who passed away in an auto accident last year, will also be honored during this dedication. Over $8,000 was raised at Andy’s “Fast- 50” race in January, with the donation going for corn plots, fruit trees and vegetation in the WMA.
