Bomber football opens season with shutout

Braham kicked off the 2013 season by scoring 24 points in the first quarter en route to a 30-0 shutout over visiting Ogilvie Aug. 29.

Tristan Marthaler began the scoring by catching a 7-yard touchdown pass from John Larson on Braham’s opening drive. Zach Dahlman pressured the Lion QB on the next series, forcing a quick throw which Thomas Johnson picked off and returned for a score.

Three minutes later, Larson found Quinn Richmond for a 19-yard scoring strike, then Dahlman and Larson connected for a 52-yard bomb wth one minute left in the opening stanza.

Larson finished the game with 266 passing yards, adding a 6-yard TD toss to Dahlman in the third quarter. Randy Braund snared two interceptions for the Bombers, and Noah Bone added a fourth pick.

“Our defense played great. Anytime you can limit an offense to 65 yards, that is just great! We played pretty tough up front, ran to the football well tonight, and we gang-tackled really well,” described Bomber Coach Shawn Kuhnke.

Next up: Braham travels to Aitkin for a GPFA league game Sept. 6. The Gobblers defeated Virginia 54-0 in their opener last week.
