First Baptist to offer grief support to community

Grief is real and we need help to get through it. The Health Ministry team of First Baptist Church is sponsoring a Christian-based group that is open to the community.

The support group will meet Tuesday afternoons at First Baptist, beginning Sept. 10 at 1:30 p.m. The last session will be Nov. 12.

The sessions will be led by facilitators Loren and Twila Johnson. They will begin each two-hour session with a time to share with new friends over coffee, tea and cookies. Next, a DVD is shown and then they go into small groups for discussion and sharing. The discussion period is very non-threatening with simple ground rules. If people do not feel like sharing, it is okay to listen. But every session addresses a subject important to those experiencing grief.

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel.

In these sessions you will feel understood. For additional information, or to register, call the church office at 763-689-1173. The seminar is free, but a workbook can be purchased for $15.
