Free Christian Concert, Family Fun

Friday, Aug. 23: A free Christian concert with food and children’s activities will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Central Green Park in Cambridge, 1455 S. Fern St.

Venjan Sweden Travelers Arrive in Dalbo

Friday, Aug. 23: Approximately 49 Swedes from Venjan will be arriving to the small town where their ancestors moved to in the late 1900s to establish a new home. During this event a meal of broasted chicken with all the “fixins” will be catered by the Grandy Brass Rail will be served at the Dalbo Fire Hall. The cost of the meal is $12/meal and will be served from 7-9 p.m. During the meal a sister city exchange will take place between representatives from the town of Venjan and the Dalbo Township Board. After the meal is complete you are invited up to the Dusty Eagle in Dalbo for additional visiting with our cousins from Sweden along with some great music by Slippery Steve and Scary Gary. If you have relatives who came from the Dalarna province in Sweden you will especially want to come to this event.

Cambridge High School Class of 1978 Reunion

Saturday, Aug. 24: The Cambridge Class of 1978 will hold its 35th reunion from 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Captain’s On Long Lake, 27821 Bay Shore Dr. NW, Isanti. The gathering is free. Meals and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the day. There will be tables reserved inside and in areas outside. Public boat dock, swimming, fire pit, pavilion, free DJ and Karaoke in the evening. Bring camp chairs and cameras. Please, no children. No formal mailers are going out. Car Show, Street Dance in Isanti

Saturday, Aug. 24: The Rum River Rods Grand Finale Car Show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street in Isanti. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and cost is $5 per car. Bring a non-perishable food donation and receive a door prize ticket. Trophy presentation to follow car show. Bring the whole family for pie eating contest, muffler rap contest, kid’s activities, silent auction and food vendors. All proceeds benefit Family Pathways. A street dance will be held later that day from 7-11 p.m. featuring “Boogie Wonderland.” The street dance is free, with food and drinks available for purchase.

8th Annual John Larson Memorial Ride

Sunday, Aug. 25: Registration for the 8th Annual Motorcycle Ride in remembrance of John Larson will begin at 10 a.m. at Larson’s Cycle in Cambridge, 205 S. Garfield St. The Ride will leave at 11 a.m. and consists of 80-90 miles of mostly back roads. There will be a mid-point stop for refreshments. There is no cost to ride. Tuesday, Aug. 27: The Cambridge High School Class of 1962 will hold a gathering at noon at Wintergreen’s in Isanti (west of Highway 65, south of County Road 5). Order off the menu; no reservation necessary. Come share some memories.

Mothers of Preschoolers Open House

Tuesday, Aug. 27: The organization, Mothers of Preschoolers, will host an open house at 6:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Cambridge, 304 Main St. S. All mothers who have children ages birth through kindergarten are invited to attend. MOPS is moms with young children who meet and join together to form friendships, support each other and grow together as moms and as women. During the open house you will have a chance to meet the leadership team, mentor moms, and moppets workers. You will also see highlights from last year and preview the upcoming year. Sons of Norway Meeting

Tuesday, Aug. 27: Rumelva Lodge, Sons of Norway in Cambridge, will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center (SACS), 332 Third Ave. NW, Cambridge. The program will be a presentation by Roger and Jean Anderson about their cruise along the coast of Norway. Of course, they will have coffee and treats, and time for visiting. Men and women are invited to come and visit and learn about Nordic culture. Sons of Norway is an organization that promotes and preserves the heritage and culture of Norway, and celebrates their relationship with other Nordic countries. One need not be Norwegian to attend.
