Jailbirds win 2013 women’s softball league title

The Jailbirds won the Cambridge Wednesday Women’s Softball League title with a 20-4 record and will enter this weekend’s MSF Class D Women’s State tournament as a No. 1 seed. The Jailbirds won the Cambridge Wednesday Women’s Softball League title with a 20-4 record and will enter this weekend’s MSF Class D Women’s State tournament as a No. 1 seed. The Jailbirds owned a 20-4 league record this summer to be crowned the 2013 Cambridge-Isanti Women’s league champions. The Jailbirds will be the No.1 seed out of Cambridge at the MSF Womens Class DD State tournament in Hutchinson Aug. 17-18.

The No. 2 seed Misfits, No. 3 seed Pine Brook Inn and the  No. 4 seed Screwballs out of Cambridge will also compete in the “DD” State tournament in Hutchinson. The Beavers, who finished second in the league with a 19-5 record, are the No. 1 seed in the Class D MSF Womens State tournament in Monticello this weekend.

• Kostecka Farms finished first in the 35-Over Men’s Masters League regular season with a 13-2 record over East Central Transportation/Brad’s Cab (also 13-2) by virtue of the head-to-head tiebreaker. The end-of-year tournament began Aug. 6 and runs to Aug. 27 on Tuesday nights at Sandquist Park.
