Isanti man dies after being hit by train early Saturday morning

A 32-year old Isanti man has died after being hit by a train early Saturday morning.

According to a press release, on Aug. 10 at 4:02 a.m., the Isanti Police Department received a call of a train versus pedestrian accident within the city of Isanti, specifically north of Heritage Boulevard Northwest.

The Isanti Police Department located the victim north of Heritage Boulevard Northwest, but south of Isanti Parkway Northwest, in the area of the Isanti Water Treatment Plant.

It was quickly determined that the victim, James Donald O’Neil, had died at the scene.

This is the third such accident that the department has responded to this year. It is imperative that pedestrian traffic stay off the railroad tracks.

The Isanti Police Department was assisted by the Isanti Fire Department, Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, Isanti County Safety and Rescue, Cambridge Police Department, Allina Ambulance and Canadian Pacific Railway Police.
