The Isanti County Agricultural Society Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who came out to celebrate ‘Oktoberfest in July’ at the 136th Annual Isanti County Fair, which will long be remembered for the ‘Oktoberfest-like weather’ experience.
With comfortable weather early in the week, Friday and Saturday brought hardy fair visitors dressed in long underwear and sweatshirts, bringing along their umbrellas to enjoy great German entertainment and plenty of food, fun and exhibits. This year’s addition of a ‘whole grounds PA system,’ made possible with a grant from the Isanti County Emergency Management through the Isanti County Sheriff’s Department, the Fair was able to alert fair attendees to inclement weather.
Funding was also received again this year from the ‘County Fair Arts Access and Cultural Heritage Grant Program’ which was responsible for the new Sunshade installed in the Bandshell area and provided funding for the Elk River German Band, Concord Singers with Narren and the Edelweiss Dancers.
The Board would like to recognize and thank the Isanti County Veterans Service Office and the many local service organizations for their help with the opening ceremonies; Isanti County Commission on Aging and SAC’s on Third for their work on Seniors Day; and Tonya Orbeck for the fantastic Kid’s Day Events on Friday. Other organizations that contributed to this year’s fair with displays and demonstrations include the Driftduster’s Snowmobile Club for the ‘Winter Adventure’ Display; Isanti County Chapter of the MN Deerhunter’s Association; 4-H Robotics Team; and the Isanti Fire District for their Fire Safe House exhibit.
A great big thanks goes out to the recipients of the “2013 Friend of the Fair” Award; Isanti County Sheriff’s Department and Isanti County Safety Rescue. The Board extends its gratefulness to Allina Medical Services and the Cambridge Fire Department, who provide us with professional assistance throughout the week of the fair along with the Isanti, Braham and Cambridge Police Reserves for their help with security throughout the week.
However, the largest thanks goes out to all of the exhibitors, participants, vendors, sponsors, businesses, non-profits, fair volunteers, and individuals who contributed not only services, goods, and financial support, but took time out of their personal life during the week to come out to participate and help with this great Isanti County summer celebration.
A sincere thank you to all as the fair would not happen without the help and support of the entire community.
The dates for next year’s fair will be July 23-27 and will mark the 137th year of this great ‘Isanti County Get-Together.’ Please plan on joining us again at the Isanti County Fair in 2014 for the ‘Best Five Days of July.’
