Redbirds seeded second for Section 8B playoffs

Isanti earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye for the Section 8B tournament hosted at Forest Lake. The Redbirds will open the playoffs with a 4 p.m. game on Saturday, Aug. 3 against the winner of No. 3 Forest Lake and No. 6 East Bethel.

With a victory, Isanti would next play at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 8; a loss would send them to a 5 p.m. game on Aug. 4. Blaine, the 2013 Metro Minny champ, got the No. 1 seed for this round of the playoffs.

Isanti beat Big Lake 2-1 July 24 when Adam West scattered seven hits over seven innings, striking out nine. B.J. Samuelson and Cole Bakke scored the two ‘Bird runs.

The regular season closed with a 7-1 win over Champlin July 26. Dallas Nelson racked up 18 strikeouts and gave up just two hits in the complete-game victory. Kyle Johnson went 3-for-4 at the plate, and Jake Maros delivered two RBI.
