Entering the playoffs this week, the Cambridge Legion baseball squad is 1-1 and still alive in the Sub-State 13 tournament hosted at Princeton’s Solheim Veterans Field.

In opening round action July 24, No. 4 seed Cambridge defeated No. 5 Big Lake 8-0. Top-seed Princeton then beat Cambridge 11-1 in seven innings in the July 25 semifinals as Cambridge committed six errors to aid the hard-hitting Tigers.

Cambridge resumes play Thursday afternoon in the tournament and must win three games in a row to reach the finals. St. Francis defeated Buffalo 7-0 in the other semis, and St. Francis and Princeton play 8 p.m. Thursday night. The winner of that game reaches the 2 p.m. championship game against the survivor of the losers’ brackets.
