Making a difference in the local community

Dear Editor:

Modern Woodmen Youth Club planted two Apple trees and one Maple tree at The Refuge shelter that helps women and children who have been victims of domestic abuse.

As a youth leader I have watched our members feel valued by giving back. Our youth club meets monthly and the mission is volunteering. Some of the things the group has done this year is planting flowers downtown in Cambridge by “Pass It On” thrift store,  making cards to people in nursing homes and visiting with them, stocking shelves at the local food pantry and volunteering at the MS walk.

I am a strong believer that everyone can contribute and help in their community. Our youth club just started in February 2013 and I truly enjoy watching the children give back. The Modern Woodmen Chapter members is a nonprofit organization that focuses on volunteering and giving back to our communities.
