Schedule of Events for Isanti Rodeo Jubilee Days

Scroll down for a complete Schedule of Events for Isanti Rodeo Jubilee Day activities July 11-14.

It’s time to shine up the cowboy boots, mosey down to Isanti and get your “Yee- Haw” on because rodeo weekend is here.

The annual Isanti Firefighters Professional Rodeo will be hosted July 12-13 in conjunction with the Isanti Rodeo Jubilee Days celebration, bringing a little of the Old West to town.

“This is our 37th year, and we are still going strong,” said Isanti Firefighters Rodeo Association organizer Tom Pagel. “We have some great new guys coming in to help with this year’s rodeo, and we have added some additional bleachers for the fans.”

There are still box suites available for both the Friday and Saturday performances, and there are some club seats available for the Saturday show. To reserve special seating options, call Marc at 612-669-2326 or e-mail him at [email protected]

Advance general admission tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under and are still available at several Isanti businesses or can be purchased under the “rodeo section” at Tickets at the gate are $14 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Children 3 and under are admitted for free.

The tickets are also good for the country rock concerts after each rodeo performance — Sterns County 17 on Friday night and Iron Horse Group on Saturday night.

Tough competitors and stock

Each rodeo performance begins at 6:30 p.m. But starting at 6 p.m., Mutton Bustin’ will be held once again for children over 5 years old who weigh 55 pounds or less. It’s recommended to preregister for Mutton Bustin’ (with parent’s permission) by clicking on the sheep in the rodeo section of the Isanti Firefighters’ website or by calling 763-464-2508. If there are openings, kids can also register the night of the rodeo.

The tough stock of the Pickett Pro Rodeo Company and subcontractor J Bar J Rodeo will be featured at the Isanti Firefighters Rodeos. The bulls were particularly tough last year, not allowing a single full ride for the money.

The Isanti Rodeo is once again coordinated on the same weekend with the Hamel, Minn., Rodeo and Spooner, Wis., Heart of the North Rodeo, which creates consistent draws of top Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association competitors to the northland.

The top-ranked PRCA Great Lakes Circuit cowboys for each event, along with any high-ranking Minnesota competitors who may be seen at the Isanti rodeos, are:

• All-Around Cowboy – Kyle Whitaker (Chambers, Neb.).

• Bareback – Kyle Brennecke (Grain Valley, Mo.); 3rd: Tanner Aus (Granite Falls, Minn.).

• Steer Wrestling – Jacob Burks (Lancaster, Wis).

• Team Roping – Header: Ryan Von Ahn (Sac City, Iowa); Healer: Gabe Gwaltney (Carthage, Mo.).

• Saddle Bronc – Will Smith (Marshall, Mo.); 12th: Tyler Corrington (Hastings, Minn.); 13th: Bailey Webber (Buhl, Minn.).

• Tie Down Roping – Chris Neal (Muldrow, Okla.); 2nd: Jody Green (Shakopee, Minn.).

• Bull Riding – Sunshine Schwartz (Anoka, Minn.); 3rd: Matt Pojanski (Woodbury, Minn.); 4th: Brett Stall (Detroit Lakes, Minn.).

Leading the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association, Great Lake Circuit, for Barrel Racing is Jordan Talbot of Centerville, Iowa. Minnesotans ranked in the top 15 on the circuit are: Jodi Lee of Annandale (5th), Kara Posch of Holdingford (8th), Hailey Sheldon of Elk River (11th), Maren Luedemann of Buffalo (12th) and Lacey Kuschel of Sebeka (14th).

The weather forecast looks fantastic for this weekend, as does the forecast for some wild riding and roping at the Isanti Firefighters Rodeos. All proceeds go toward improvements to the Isanti Fire District.
