Battling through a little rough weather Friday night, the sixth annual Bandit Bash amateur baseball tourney hosted by Rum River kept rolling to a successful close.
A rain storm descended on Cambridge Friday night when the Bandits took on two-time defending tourney champ Blue Package Delivery. The soaked field saw BPD defeat the Bandits 6-0 on the soaked field.
After manager Tom Koplitz and team crew bailed and patched up Larson Field early Saturday morning, the tourney resumed. Rum River, behind solid pitching from Josh Coleman, defeated East Bethel 4-2 in the afternoon consolation semifinals game to stay alive.
In the fifth-place game Sunday afternoon, Rum River got ahead 7-0 and kept rolling to defeat Eastern Minny rival Princeton 13-5. The third-place game saw Elk River top Quamba 6-0. In Sunday night’s championship, it was the Bloomington Bandits getting past Blue Package Delivery 3-2.
