One dead in three-vehicle collision south of Grandy

One person died in a three vehicle accident on Hwy. 65 just south of Grandy the afternoon of Thursday, June 27. The collision forced traffic to be re-routed from the highway two hours after the 3:10 p.m. incident.

Billie J. Borchardt, 46, of Braham was killed when she was driving southbound on Hwy. 65. A passenger in her Nissan Sentra, Justin Ellis, 17, of Braham, was also injured. The accident began when a vehicle, a Chevy Silverado driven by Scott Bradley, 60, of Cambridge, was attempting to turn into the Purple Hawk Golf Course, and was rear-ended into the southbound lane by a GMC Yukon driven by Jennifer Hawkins, 42, of Mora. Both Bradley and Hawkins were also injured in the collision.

All parties were wearing their seatbelts and was alcohol not a factor among any of the parties, according to the State Trooper report.

According to her MyLife post, Borchardt lived in Braham since 2008 after residing in Willow River. She was a cheerleader advisor for the Bombers when that activity was still offered.
