Information provided by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office:
An Isanti man has drowned after falling from a boat this past weekend.
The Isanti County Communications Center received a call on June 16 at 3:15 a.m. from a male party indicating they were in a boat on Long Lake and that a friend fell overboard and had not surfaced.
First responders and divers were dispatched to the lake in an effort to rescue the male that had fallen into the lake. After several hours, the operation turned into a recovery mission.
Around 9 a.m., divers from Isanti and Anoka counties, with the help of side scan sonar equipment, located and recovered Dylan James Dusbabek, 32, in about 8 feet of water.
Witnesses and passengers on the boat were interviewed at the scene and released, and the boat was impounded for further examination. It does not appear that either the victim or the others in the boat were wearing life jackets.
It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs played a role, but toxicology reports will be performed as part of the investigation. The case remains under investigation by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
Assisting at the scene were responders from the Isanti Fire District, Isanti Safety and Rescue, Isanti County Sheriff’s Office, Isanti County Sheriff’s Office Dive team, Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team and the medical examiner’s office.
