2013 Cambridge Ambassadors crowned

The 2013 Cambridge Ambassadors Becky Dowell, Elizabeth Poppen and Morgan Scheiller pose for their first official portrait following the 2013 Cambridge Ambassador Crowning Celebration June 14 at the Hardy Performing Arts Center at Cambridge-Isanti High School. The community can help raise scholarships for the new ambassadors by getting a team together or sponsoring a hole ($50) at the 9th Annual Ambassador Classic June 29 at Purple Hawk in Cambridge. Morgan Scheiller is overwhelmed with emotion as 2012 Cambridge Ambassador Abriel Schlenker crowns her a 2013 Cambridge Ambassador. Scheiller, a 2013 graduate of Cambridge-Isanti High School, would like to become an anesthesiologist. Pictured to Scheiller’s left is candidate Miranda Olson and to her right are candidates Meghan Skiba and Mollie Laidly. Elizabeth Poppen is overjoyed as she is crowned a 2013 Cambridge Ambassador. Standing behind Poppen is 2012 Cambridge Ambassador Emily Moore, and to her right are candidates Jocelyn O’Neill and Erica Epsen. To her left are candidates Brittani Terwilliger and Taylor Ouellette. Poppen will be a senior next year at Cambridge-Isanti High School. Becky Dowell is embraced by candidate Julia Walfoort as she is crowned a 2013 Cambridge Ambassador. Pictured to the right of Dowell is 2012 Cambridge Ambassador Jazzy Erickson and candidate Courtney Stempinski. Dowell plans to attend the University of St. Thomas and major in business administration. The 2013 Cambridge Ambassador candidates opened the crowning celebration with a theme of “We Will Rock You.” The 2012 Cambridge Ambassadors Abriel Schlenker, Emily Moore and Jazzy Erickson enjoy a dance number with the theme “We Will Rock You.” Little Miss Cambridge Elizabeth Erickson, who was crowned June 11, was introduced to the crowd. Candidate Taylor Ouellette displays her love of track and cross country during her personal presentation. Pictured behind her are Mistress and Master of Ceremonies Gena Johnston Hughes and Joe Johnston. Candidate Kara Sundvall plays violin during her personal presentation. She noted she’s been playing violin since she was 8, and plans on pursuing a career in art therapy at the University of Northwestern-St. Paul. During her personal presentation, candidate Shelby Swanson talked about her upcoming trip to Rwanda through her volunteerism with the local Our Response organization.
