‘Okee Dokee Brothers’ kick off summer reading program

Hey kids. Dig a little deeper and you’ll discover there’s a world of interesting things beneath your feet. Join for the Cambridge Public Library’s 2013 summer reading program. Readers preschool through 6th grade will explore an underground theme, Dig Into Reading, with stories, music, crafts, and more.  Preschoolers may have an adult or older child read to them.

On Wednesday, June 12, at 1 p.m., the Grammy award winning children’s musicians, the ‘Okee Dokee Brothers’ will be at the Cambridge Primary School Multipurpose Room.

Their album, “Can You Canoe?” won a Grammy for Best Children’s Album of the Year. They put passion for the outdoors at the heart of their Americana Folk music. Joe and Justin record and perform family music with a goal to inspire children and their parents to get outside and experience nature. They believe this can motivate kids to gain a greater respect for the natural world, their communities and themselves. The event is funded with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Throughout the summer there will be a variety of programs and activities for kids of all ages. Stop by the Cambridge Public Library and pick up a flyer listing all the activities and the program guidelines. Teens may also participate in their own summer reading program. Ask for details at the library.
