Dean Hendricks Obit photoDean Delano Hendricks, 77, of Mora, died Friday, May 24, 2013 peacefully at home.

Dean was born June 10, 1935 to Olaf and Ida (Byers) Hendricks in Isanti, Minn. He grew up in the Cambridge-Isanti area and attended school in Isanti.

On Aug. 29, 1953 Dean married Joanne Okerstrom. They were married at the South Isanti Baptist Church. They made their home in Isanti.  It was there that they raised their four children.

Dean worked at the Isanti Creamery for a short time and then began working at Consolidated Freightways Trucking Company. After working for several years at Consolidated Freightways, he started in 1968 for the Cambridge-Isanti School District #911 as the Transportation Director.  Dean retired in June of 1996.

The winter months were spent in Arizona.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Dean is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanne. This Aug. 29 would have been 60 years. He was also survived by his children, Barb (Mike) White, Bryan (Terri) Hendricks, Daryl Hendricks, Deb Andrews (Paul Pruin); eight grandchildren, Keri, Brian, Nate, Heidi, Kellie, Mindy, Jennie and Jocelyn;  Also eight great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Emaley, Halley, Kody, Bella, Mya and Caden, and by one brother, Quentin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Lois Bjorklund, Ila Cochran, Leona Forsberg, and his brothers, Everett and Laurel.

A Celebration of Life service was held Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at South Isanti Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Bohachek and Rev. Robert Venneman officiating. Pallbearers were David Ahlman, Art Guthrie, Wade Lucking, Joe Raiolo, Dennis Simonson and Brian White. Honorary Pallbearers were Charlie Hirsch and Ronnie Wick. Interment was in Isanti Union Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel.
