Jacket boys track wins again

Cambridge-Isanti boys track & field held off Centennial 152-131 at their own five-team May 14 C-I May Unlimited to continue their strong spring season.

The field events came through for big points for the Bluejackets at the home facilities. Clinton Treichel (46-03) and Darren DeBaere (44-0) placed 1st-2nd in the shot put, then those two also took the top two spots in the discus (Treichel– 134-09, DeBaere– 123-08). Bryant Nelson won the pole vault at 12-06, and Justin Rud placed 1st in the long jump at 19-08.

Max Niebel and Rud both cleared 5-10 to go 1st and 2nd in the high jump. Hunter Vavra’s 38-07 was good for 3rd in the triple jump.

In running events, a big highlight was the sweep of the top three spots in the 110 hurdles by Cole Crocker (17.1), Justin Gordon (17.3) and Jerimiah Johnson (17.4). Relays posting 1st places were 4×200 and 4×400, both comprising Dan Kropidlowski, John Solberg, Travis Holt and Rud.

The Bluejacket girls finished a distant 2nd to Centennial at the Unlimited with a variety of teammates performing well. Recording wins in their events were Paige Muehlhauser in the 400 (1:02.2), Kylie Baas in the high jump (personal-best 5-03) and Danielle Page in the 300 hurdles (53.4).

Taking 2nd for the C-I girls were: Page and Victoria Nelson in the 100 hurdles (tie at 18.12); Carlynn Galeazzi in the long jump (14-09), and Emily Baker in the shot put (31-07).
