The Braham boys finished just four points out of 2nd place while taking 4th at the May 14 Great River Track & Field Finals. The Bomber girls were 7th in their half of the meet won by the Mille Lacs girls and Rush City boys.
Junior Zach Dahlman had a huge day for the boys, winning the 400-meter dash by a full second at 53.4 and taking 1st in the triple jump at 38-05. Along with a 5th in the discus, he joined Bryce Lanhart, Ryan Reising and Nick Jones on the 1st-place 4×400 relay (4:05.1).
Logan Leavey (11:20.3) and Connor TenNapel (11:33.6) finished a solid 1st-2nd in the 3200. Also taking All-Conference honors were the 2nd-place 4×800 relay of Lanhart, Leavey Cody Anderson & TenNapel, and Reising placing 3rd in both the 400 (55.3) and pole vault (9-06).
Brandon Arispe’s 5-06 effort in the high jump was good for 4th, and Jones added a 4th in the 400 (55.3). Placing 6th for the boys: Thomas Warner (1600), Arispe (pole vault), Eric Eskuri (discus).
Bomber Girls highlights
Freshmen Jaclyn Hollenkamp paced the Bomber girls by winning the 100 (12.8) and taking 2nd in the 200 (28.5). Rachel Eskuri earned her All-GRC by placing 3rd in the 3200 (14:18.7); she also was 6th in the 1600 (6:13.9).
Braham’s 4×800 and 4×200 relays finished 4th. Jenna Winter cleared 7-06 to place 5th in the pole vault. Hollenkamp (long jump) and Winter (shot put) also added 7th-place points.
