Redbirds & Bandits begin town team baseball seasons

The town team baseball season is rolling this week for both area squads.

Isanti hosts Hinckley May 15 and the Metro Merchants May 17 (7:30 p.m. starts). The Redbirds kick into the Metro Minny season at Blaine on Sunday (5 p.m.). Anoka comes to town May 24 in another MML game.

Isanti has got in two games so far this spring, opening May 5 with a 5-4 pre-season loss to Lyon’s Pub. Packy Lind and Luke Scott had 2 hits for the squad. Pitching was shared by Adam West (4 inn.), Dallas Nelson (4 inn.) and Wade Reichmann (1 inn.).

Last Sunday, the Redbirds’ rally ran short in a 6-5 loss to the Minneapolis Angels. Lind and Tyler Schaff had 2 hits for Isanti.

• The Rum River squad of Cambridge gets its season underway May 15 against East Bethel at St. Francis. The Bandits next travel to St. Croix River May 18 (1 p.m.) and to White Bear Lake for a May 20 game against the Metro Knights. The Bandits will play at Anoka May 23, then get the Eastern Minny League season going with a May 28 game at Quamba (7:30 p.m.).

The Eastern Minny has a new look this season with the additions of the Sartell Stone Poneys and Ogilvie Outlaws.
