Local residents and motorists traveling near St. Cloud, Cambridge, Isanti, Belgrade and other areas in mid-Minnesota may see smoke from roadside prescribed burns this fall and next spring until mid-May.
The burns are planned for MnDOT rights of way in the following areas.
• Along 24 miles of Highway 65 between East Bethel and Grandy, including burns within Cambridge
• Along Highway 55 between Brooten and Belgrade
• The St. Cloud Travel Information Center on Highway 10
• Portions of the Lake Wobegon Trail
The burns are scheduled during optimal weather conditions to ensure safety and effectiveness. Traffic should not be affected and all roadways will remain open during the burns.
The burns are conducted by fully trained crews and will improve native vegetation and help with weed control.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to always drive with caution, slowdown in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
