The East Central Minnesota Grad Band will present its annual spring concert at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at the Cambridge Middle School Auditorium.
The band has 53 members with addresses ranging from Saint Paul to Mora and Rush City to Brooklyn Park and Saint Louis Park. The conductor of the Grad Band, Lynn Wedlund, described the spring concert as its most ambitious effort yet, with music that is harder and with more pieces included.
The title for the spring concert is “Movies and More.” Music included is a medley of tunes from Disney movies, including “Beauty and the Beast,” “Arabian Nights,” “Aladdin” and “The Jungle Book.”
Paul Tatting, Jr., will play a saxophone solo on “Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz.” The band will play a selection of tunes from “The Star Wars Epic — Part II,” including “Princess Leia’s Theme” and “The Imperial March.” From the movie “The Great Race” the band will play “Pie in the Face Polka.” And from “Robots” the band will play “Shine.” The band will play a couple of marches, “Aces High” from “The Battle of Britain,” and “Captain America March.”
Eric Anderson will guest conduct “Prelude,” “Siciliano” and “Rondo.” Paul Tatting, Jr., has arranged for a woodwind ensemble “These Are a Few of My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music.”
The concert is free but donations will be gratefully accepted. Cookies and lemonade will be served at intermission.
