Infant dies after crash involving school bus in North Branch

Slick roads are deemed to be the primary factor in the crash that led to the death of 4-month-old Mackenzie Cash Thursday in North Branch. Photo supplied

A 4-month-old girl died as the result crash that involved a North Branch Area Public Schools school bus and a van near the intersection of Forest Boulevard and Crestview Drive in North Branch around 5:13 p.m. Thursday, according to a press release from the North Branch Police Department.

The infant, Mackenzie Cash, was transported to U of M Amplatz Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis following the crash, but died Saturday morning.

The driver of the van, Joshua Cash, and the driver of the school bus, Kim Schwinn, were treated and released from Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming.

There were no children on the bus at the time of the accident.

Slick roads were deemed to be the primary factor in the crash.

Memorial services for Mackenzie Cash will be held Friday, April 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church in North Branch.
