Donna Mae Hanson, 82, of Stanchfield, Minn., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at GracePointe Crossings West, Cambridge, Minn.
Donna Mae was born May 15, 1930, to Henry (Hank) and Helen Anderson. On Oct. 16, 1954, she was united in marriage with Stanley Alfred Hanson. The couple settled in the Stanchfield area, where they raised five children together until cancer took Stanley’s life, in 1971. The children were aged 5 to 14, at the time, and Donna Mae bravely undertook the task of raising them to adulthood as a single parent.
Donna Mae is preceded in death also by both of her parents, and also by an infant daughter, Suzy Q. Hanson. She is survived by two brothers; Donald (Shirley) Anderson, and Terence (Adeline) Anderson, two sisters; Dorothy (Harvey) Kiefat, and Carol (Richard) Scott.
Donna Mae’s five children include three sons; Stanley (Joyce) Hanson, of Cambridge, Minn., Pete (Renee) Hanson, of Quamba, Minn., and William (Sheila) Hanson, of Rush City, Minn., and two daughters; Cindy (John) Bellach, of Dalbo, Minn., and Mary (Bob) Lontkowski, of Dripping Springs, Texas.
Donna Mae is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild due any day, now, as well as numerous other relatives, friends and neighbors.
Donna Mae will live on in our memories for her many sterling qualities, especially her strong faith in God and her outstanding compassion. She helped others, even far beyond her ability to do so. She sewed new clothes, both for her siblings and for her children, she made quilts for us, from whatever materials she had available to her, and she offered us all the products of her garden.
During the last few weeks of her life, she gave us a wonderful gift, the gift of coming back together as a family. Donna Mae, we love you so very much; walk with God forever.
