Karen Jean Auers, 53, of Braham, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Franciscan Health Center in Duluth, Minn.
Karen was born Dec. 2, 1959 in Minneapolis to Fred and Mary Lou (Johnson) LeMieux. She was the oldest of three girls. She lived with her family in the cities for part of her childhood and then the family moved to Askov, Minn. She grew up on a farm with horses, sheep, and other animals. Karen graduated from Askov High School in 1977.
Her daughter Mary was born Oct. 5, 1976 in Glasgow, Mont. during her first marriage to Tom Tvedt. Karen married Steve Auers on June 29, 1985 near Sandstone, Minn. They lived in many places around East Central Minnesota; finally residing near Braham in 1996.
She loved gardening, looking for agates, hunting, and anything involved with being outdoors. She was also very creative; from sewing to leather work to ceramics, Karen made very beautiful things. She was also a fantastic cook. Karen was also very knowledgeable with computers; if we had issues, she is the one we would call!
Karen gave her life to Christ in the late 80s. While she had many trials and tribulations, she fought them all with great courage. She was very loved and is greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents Rinaldo and Clarissa Johnson; and Arthur and Ethel LeMieux.
She is survived by her loving husband Steve of Braham; daughter Mary (Rick) Johnson of Rush City; parents Fred and Mary Lou LeMieux of Askov, sister Janet (Terry) Fischer of Askov, sister Peggy LeMieux of Hinckley; father and mother-in-law Harold and Betty Auers of Pine City, sister-in-law Rhonda (Greg) Berghammer of Rapid City, S.D.; brother-in-law Mark (Lori) Auers of Pine City; brother-in-law David Auers of Grasston; five nephews and nieces; seven great nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
Final arrangements were made with the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Duluth. Per Karen’s wishes, no funeral will be held. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
A very special thank you to St. Mary’s Hospital and Franciscan Health Center in Duluth, Minn. for the special care they gave to Karen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, the Tusen Tack Thrift Store in Braham, Minn.; or the Minnesota Brain Injury Association.
