In another grueling Section 7AA championship game against Esko, Braham overcame a five-point deficit with hard-nosed play down the final five minutes to win 58-53 at UMD March 7. The victory increased the Bombers’ State-entrant streak to five years and kept them perfect at 30-0 on the season.
Eskomo senior Marissa Shady drove and finished off a three-point play to have her team leading 41-36 and added another bucket to make it 43-39. Braham had three missed shots rebounded by Esko, but then Jenna Winter drained the third of her big three-point shots to cut it 43-42. Becca Dahlman blitzed the Eskomos for consecutive layups to make it 46-43, and the Bombers resumed control of the game. Two sunk shots from Dani Braund coupled with Dahlman swooping in a reverse past 6’9″ Savanna Trapp had Braham ahead 54-46 with 1:35 to go.
The Bombers next will play in the 8 p.m. Class AA quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 13 against Section 3AA champ BOLD (26-3). Also in that half of the brackets are 1AA champ Pine Island (26-5) and ‘AA’ defending champ Providence Academy (24-4) out of Section 5AA.
