Soldiers from 850th Horizontal Engineer Company depart Cambridge

One-hundred forty nine soldiers from the Minnesota National Guard 850th Horizontal Engineer Company based in Cambridge, Minn., left Wednesday morning, March 6, for training and travel to Ft. Bliss, Texas, in preparation for a one-year deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Matt Rosckes, 28, Watertown The soldiers load the buses. Jim Johnson, of Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, provides the soldiers with beverages and lunches. The buses leave the Cambridge Armed Forces Reserve and Community Center escorted by members of local law enforcement and emergency responders. Family members wave goodbye to their loves ones. The soldiers will spend approximately two months in training at Ft. Bliss, Texas, in preparation for their one-year deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
