Braham boys basketball (24-2) was seeded in the No. 3 slot in the Section 7AA South Subsection for this week’s playoffs. The Bombers will host South No. 6 Rush City (13-9) in the Wednesday, March 6 opening round (7 p.m.).
The winner of that game will face either No. 2 Esko (22-4) or No. 7 Aitkin (8-17) in the Saturday, March 9 quarterfinals at UMD (1 p.m.). Also in that half of the brackets is North No. 1 Virginia (20-6).
Mora (21-5) is the No. 1 South seed in the other half of the brackets. The North No. 2 seed is International Falls (22-4) and No. 3 is Deer River (18-8).
C-I Boys open at Forest Lake
The Cambridge-Isanti boys (7-19) were seeded No. 6 for the Section 7AAAA playoffs. The Bluejackets will open the quarterfinals at No. 3 Forest Lake (10-16) on Thursday, March 7 (7 p.m.) The winner gets either No. 2 Duluth East (14-12) or No. 7 Anoka (3-22) in the Monday, March 11 semifinals at North Branch.
St. Francis (17-9) is the No. 1 seed in 7AAAA and received a first-round bye. The get either No. 4 Andover (7-19) or No. 5 Blaine (7-19) in the semifinals.
Braham Girls win big in 7AA quarters
No. 1 South seed Braham (28-0) hammered No. 4 Rush City 109-28 in the March 2 quarterfinals at UMD. The Bombers next will face North No. 2 International Falls (24-4) in the March 5 semifinals back at UMD (7:45 p.m.). The other semis will pit North No. 1 Esko (25-3) against South No. 6 Milaca (8-19). The 7AA championship will be March 7 at UMD.
C-I Girls reach 7AAAA semis
The Cambridge-Isanti girls (17-10), seeded No. 3 in Section 7AAAA basketball, knocked off No. 7 St. Francis 81-52 in the Feb. 28 quarterfinals. The Bluejackets will take on No. 2 Anoka (18-9) in the March 5 semifinals at North Branch (8 p.m.).
In the other semifinals, it will be No. 1 Forest Lake (20-6) vs. No. 4 Andover (12-15). The 7AAAA finals will be Friday, March 8 (7 p.m.) back at North Branch H.S.
