Bomber girls beat PC, face Tigers in 7AA quarters

Braham took a 40-12 at the half and kept defending Pine City well in the second half to deliver a 77-19 win in the Section 7AA opening night of action Feb. 27.

The South No. 1 seed Bombers (27-0) will next face South No. 4 Rush City (13-10) in the 7:45 p.m. quarterfinal game at the University of Minnesota-Duluth on Saturday, March 2. The Tigers had a 14-point lead in the second half before holding on to defeat No. 5 Mora 63-60 in their Feb. 27 matchup.

In that half of the 7AA brackets, North No. 2 International Falls (74-50 over Deer River) vs. North No. 3 Virginia (65-45 over Greenway) will be the other quarterfinal game. Saturday winner’s will meet in the 7:45 p.m. semifinal game March 5 back at UMD.

In the other half of the brackets, quarterfinal matchups will be North No. 1 Esko (76-14 over Duluth Marshall) vs. North No. 4 Eveleth-Gilbert (47-41 over Two Harbors), and South No. 2 Aitkin (62-30 over Hinckley-Fin.) vs. South No. 6 Milaca (55-49 over Moose Lake-WR).

The Section 7AA championship will be Thursday, March 7, 7 p.m. in the UMD gym.
