After four years, the County Line restaurant and bar reopened for business.
Located at the corner of Co. Rd. 7 and Co. Rd. 8 in Crown, Minn., owner John Newstrom said they reopened Jan. 1 with a newly rebuilt structure.
He had always planned on opening County Line again. Before rebuilding, he worked as a construction worker.
“The community needed the place,” Newstrom said. “I’m getting too old to be doing manual labor.”
Newstrom said customers have said they’re happy the bar is open again, and word-of-mouth is spreading slowly but surely.
The bar has domestic beers right now, but soon they’ll have a full line, Newstrom said.
They also serve Heggies Pizza and some snacks, but the restaurant doesn’t have a kitchen yet. One of Newstrom’s goals is to expand by building a kitchen and offer a full menu.
Compared to what they had before, though, Newstrom said they’re doing pretty well.
“There was nothing on the walls, and we had practically zero for inventory,” he said. “So we have quite a bit compared to what we had.”
Newstrom’s son Cody, 20, works at County Line, and soon he hopes to add a couple part-time employees.
“We’re just getting back on our feet,” Newstrom said. “We’re just lucky to be open.”
The County Line is located at 26219 Variolite Street at the corner of Co. Rd. 7 and Co. Rd. 8 in Crown, Minn. Open 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. daily, the bar and restaurant can be reached at 763-444-8024.
