Richard A. Fredrickson, 62, of Cambridge died February 14, 2013 at Cambridge Medical Center after a short battle with cancer.
Richard Arlan Fredrickson was born Aug. 27, 1950 in Princeton, Minn. to Robert and Shirley (Hovland) Fredrickson. When Richard was young his family moved to Cambridge where his parents owned and operated Chuck Wagon Café. Richard attended school in Cambridge and graduated in the class of 1968. He served his country in the US Army and completed three tours in Vietnam. After the service he lived in several areas before settling back in Cambridge 15 years ago. He worked as a custodian for Cambridge Middle School and then Cambridge-Isanti High School. Richard loved listening to music, fishing and cooking.
Richard is survived by four sons, August “Gus” (Jennifer) Fredrickson, Jake Fredrickson, Kevin Fredrickson and Craig Fredrickson; one brother, Bob Fredrickson (Pat Mitchell); one sister, Roxanna (Paul) Jokela; grandchildren, Avery and Ava; and by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Shirley, son, Logan, and sister-in-law, Annette.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel. A time for visiting will be held half-hour hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
