The Rush City-Braham wrestlers finished 3rd at the six-team Great River Conference Championships hosted at Pine City Feb. 8.
Pine City-Hinckley, with six individual champions, ended Aitkin’s run as GRC champs by a mere two points in the final standings. Improving Cloquet was next with four individual champions.
The Tigers had four grapplers place runner-up at the GRCs. At 182, Isaiah Johnson dropped an 8-7 decision to Aitkin’s Bast in the finals. At 220, Jacob Lynch was nipped 7-6 by PC-H’s V. Favorito. Chase Grant at 195 and Zack Dean at 285 also placed 2nd.
Finishing 4th at the GRCs for the Tigers were Tucker Liegland at 113, Francis Loerzel at 126, James Kelling at 138 and Zach Johnson at 152.

RC-Braham falls to Vikings in 7AA Team Tourney
The Section 7AA Team tourney opened Feb. 12 when No. 3 South seed North Branch defeated No. 6 Rush City-Braham 62-18. The Vikings then fell to No. 2 Milaca 27-25 in the ensuing quarterfinal match.
Joining Milaca at this Friday’s Section 7AA semis and finals at Pine City are Mora (50-19 over Pine City-Hinckley), Grand Rapids (58-16 over Cloquet) and Hibbing (41-30 over Nashwauk-Keewatin).
The Tigers’ next action will be the Section 7AA Individuals Feb. 22-23 at Hibbing.
