Tourney Time: RC-B Wrestling 3rd at GRCs, open sections Feb. 12th

The Rush City- Braham wrestling team finished 3rd at the six-team Great River Conference championships hosted by Pine City Feb. 8. The Tigers were led by the four top weights finishing in 2nd place and having two other grapplers place 3rd.

The Tigers next enter the Section 6AA Team tourney Tuesday evening, Feb. 12. RC-B, seeded 6th in the South, travels to No. 3 North Branch for a 5 p.m. opening match. The winner takes on No. 2 Milaca at 7 p.m. afterward at North Branch. The 6AA Team tourney continues Feb. 15 at Pine City.

• This week kicks off more tournament action at Cambridge-Isanti High School. The Bluejacket Wrestlers, ranked 4th in Class AAA to close the regular season, will be the No. 2 seed in this weekend’s Section 7AAA Team tourney at Forest Lake Feb. 14-15. The Bluejackets finished the regular season 26-3 overall with large wins over South St. Paul and Lakeville South Feb. 7.

The C-I Gymnasts will host the Section 7AA Finals on Friday, Feb. 15, with events kicking off at 5 p.m. The Bluejackets are the three-time defending champions in the section. The toughest competition could come from rival St. Francis, last season’s 7AA runner-up.

The Bluejacket Boys Hockey team will likely be traveling to St. Michael-Albertville for the opening pigtail round of the Section 7AA tournament this Saturday evening, Feb. 16. The C-I boys will get final preparation for the playoffs with home games against Buffalo Feb. 12 and Legacy Christian Feb. 14.
